LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND – ESPN Soccernet reported Thursday afternoon Carolina Dynamo striker Cody Arnoux (right)
is set to sign with Everton of the Barclays Premier League.
The Wilmington, NC native would become the second PDL player to join the club in 2009, following Ventura County Fusion midfielder Anton Peterlin to northwest England.
The two USL alumni trained with Everton in March of this year and impressed enough to earn contracts with the storied English club. They join U.S. National Team goalkeeper Tim Howard on Merseyside and will be with the team when they set off on their North American tour later this week.
The Toffees will play Argentine power River Plate in Edmonton on Saturday, July 25, before taking on the MLS All-Stars on Thursday, July 30 in Sandy, Utah.
Arnoux played for the Dynamo from 2007-2009, tallying 13 goals and five assists in 16 appearances for the longtime USL club. He last played for Carolina on July 1, a 1-0 victory against the Cary Clarets. The Dynamo were bounced from the PDL playoffs earlier this week, falling 3-1 to Cary in the Mid Atlantic first round match.
While at Wake Forest from 2006-2008, Arnoux played in 64 matches, recording 33 goals and 18 assists and was named a semifinalist for the M.A.C. Trophy in 2008.
